Should NBA players and other athletes be fined or punished in some way for boycotting games over racial injustice issues in the country?

In the past year, with all the reports of racial injustices around the country, many NBA players made their opinions known either by kneeling during the National Anthem, or, in some cases, even boycotting games. This has drawn some harsh criticism from people saying that the players can’t just boycott their jobs due to these issues. However, the players have stated that by boycotting games or kneeling during the National Anthem, they are able to use their platform to help show the impact of these injustices to a greater audience.

As citizens, that’s their right and they can do whatever they want. However, they do have contractual obligations as these are professional athletes that are making a lot of money. As a result, if they are violating any of their contractual terms, they will be either be fined and/or have to forego some of their earnings. And, I think that’s fair!
